Authentication of documents
Documents issued by Authorities in The Netherlands can be authenticated for the use in Sri Lanka . Such documents submitted for authentication by the applicant should contain the certification of the Foreign Ministry of The Netherlands .
Documents issued by Sri Lankan authorities can also be authenticated for the use in The Netherlands. Such documents submitted for authentication by the applicant should contain the certification of the Foreign Ministry of Sri Lanka .
Issuing of Power of Attorney and Affidavits
Power of Attorney and Affidavits can be signed by an authorized officer of the Embassy on the request of any Sri Lankan national. (Please note that the signing will take place only at the Embassy premises and only on prior appointment.)
Police clearance certificates
Facilities are available to obtain Police Clearance Certificates from Sri Lanka Police Headquarters through the Embassy. (Please make inquiries from the Embassy of Sri Lanka in The Hague .)
Issuing of Life Certificates
Persons drawing a pension from the Sri Lankan Government , living in The Netherlands can obtain life certificates for continues drawing of their pension from the Department of Pensions in Sri Lanka .
Dual Citizenship
Sri Lankans who have obtained Dutch nationality, living outside Sri Lanka , can apply for the Dual Citizenship under the section 19 of the Citizenship Act. Applications can be obtained at the Embassy of Sri Lanka in The Hague (or download) and after completion of the application it has to be directly sent to the following address;
Citizenship Division, Ministry of Internal Administration , Department of Immigration and Emigration, 2 nd Floor, No.41, Ananda Rajakaruna mawatha, Colombo 10, Sri Lanka.
Registration of marriages
To be married in the Netherlands at the Sri Lankan Embassy, both parties of a couple should hold Sri Lankan Nationality. A marriage between a Dutch national and a Sri Lankan National cannot be performed at the Embassy under the prevailing laws in The Netherlands.
Registration of Deaths
Next of kin of any deceased Sri Lankan in the Netherlands could apply for a registration of death. Upon such application, a certificate of death will be issued by the Embassy after scrutinizing the documents forwarded. Further assistance could be given if the human remains need to be dispatched to Sri Lanka .
